Winter Break Begins!

3:59 PM

Devoted blog followers,

December has been simultaneously busy and laid back. It's definitely the best kind of month - much better than when I was a kid and there was a school play, the Christmas parade, holiday parties at all my activities, the Christmas pageant at church, and school until the Friday before Christmas to deal with! (Don't get me wrong, I loved all those things, but now I prefer to spend my free time reading about German politics.)

I finished up my school work with 2 presentations on the first of December, which went quite nicely. After that, all I had to do was give a final for one of my professors. Once all that was over, I got to go home!

To celebrate being home, I went to Fayetteville. All in all, I believe I like the drive to Norman better because it's a state highway and I don't get tailgated by angry Texans.

I had lunch at Petra with Emily, followed by a trek around the town square. There was a sign in the town center restroom encouraging us to take a photo, so we did.

After that we had a look around campus. I saw my name again!!

I then met up with Kaylee and stayed the night with her. I had a fantastic time and got some extra knitting yarn to make Emily a hat!

Uncle Ed came to visit, so we all went to Adelita's together! It was quite fun. Granddad took the unused straws home with him. (Also, I stole this photo from facebook. Thank you, technology & Uncle Ed.)

After all that commotion, I returned home to read and make dinner until Wednesday, when Emily came home!! It's been quite fun having all four of us in the same place.

I also got an iphone yesterday, which was very nice of my parents to get me. Somehow this will be either the same price or cheaper than having a non-smart phone.

Tomorrow is the fourth Sunday of Advent. I hope you're having a wonderful Advent season - it's my favorite time of the year. The hymns are top-notch - "People Look East," "Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates," "O Come, O Come Emmanuel."

Some linkety links for you this holiday season:
The Astonishing Rise of Angela Merkel. (Got 30 minutes to kill? This is fascinating.)
Joyous News from Erfurt: Starbucks Opens (In German, but there's a photo. I'm ambivalent about this because I liked how Erfurt didn't have a lot of American chains.)

Well, my entire family came into my room to chat, so I quite lost the thread of this post.
Frohes Fest, y'all.
