Month in German - November
8:40 PMI've decided to start doing a monthly German post to show some stories and videos that I read or watched - a bit of news, a bit of things related to my research, a lot of time wasters.
Xaiver Naidoo (who you might know from being one of the three musicians that every German teacher recommends to beginners) was in the press when German broadcaster NDR proposed then withdrew him as the country's entry for Eurovision 2016. (German, English) There was a backlash movement since some consider him to be homophobic and racist - one person made a joke petition to enter herself as the entry for Germany singing the song "Space Taxi."
Deutsche Telekom (parent company to T-Mobile) got exclusive rights to use vectoring technology to create super fast internet speeds for some German users. Opponents believe this gives DT an unfair monopoly over "last mile" technology. (German, English)
As I'm preparing to write a thesis over parliamentary politics and the left that heavily features my old state of Thuringia, I found this Twitter argument between the leader of the Thuringian Left Party and a member of the center-left Social Democrats pretty interesting.

From Heute Show, the German version of The Daily Show: "ZDF Special: Help, there are far too many ZDF specials on ZDF!"
My favorite German song of the month - "Hoffnungslos Hoffnungsvoll" by Joris. (It's not new, but I still like it.)
I kind of hate that I love this video:
It's an Austrian vlogger's parody of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. His videos are something that I probably wouldn't watch regularly if he made them in English...but in German it's easier for me to understand really obvious comedy. :)
