Dark Horses? The Other Democratic Presidential Candidates

In Oklahoma, the primary election for the presidency is going to be held is just under two months. In Iowa, the campaign has reached a fever pitch as primary season approaches. A lot has been said about the large field of Republican candidates, but since the filing deadline has passed, we can also take a look at the long-shot Democratic candidates who will be on the ballot alongside Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton in Oklahoma. If you're not an Oklahoman, be sure to check out who has filed for office in your state - there are always a few interesting candidacies in primary season!
Since Oklahoma is now a semi-closed primary state, Democrat and Independent voters can vote for candidates on the Democrat ballot, while Republican voters can only vote for a Republican candidate.

Roque de la Fuente is a businessman from San Diego. He hopes to appeal to voters who feel alienated by anti-immigrant discourse from many on the right, especially by appealing to Latino voters as a "Latino presidential candidate who isn't anti-immigration." De la Fuente is against the use of the US military as a global police force, and he is also in favor of reforming the Affordable Care Act. His entry into the race was covered by The San Diego Union-Tribune, which describes him as "colorful."

The second candidate on the ballot, Keith Judd, is a felon who received 40% of the Democratic primary vote in West Virginia in 2012 amid high dissatisfaction with President Obama in that state. He was in prison in 2012; his candidacy in that race is explored here.

His positions include being in favor of increased gun control, providing a pathway to citizenship for undocumented residents, increasing renewable energy, and making college more affordable. His foreign policy platform includes heavy emphasis on collaboration with other states in order to ensure lasting changes in the world.

Michael A. Steinberg is disability attorney from Florida whose platform focuses on Social Security and disability reform as well as reforming the tax system. His foreign policy views include a pro-Israeli, anti-Iranian stance.

Star Locke is a Texan construction company owner. His website states that he was president of the College Republicans at the University of Oklahoma as well as his belief that Islam is not a religion. Many of his views conflict with the mainline views of the Democrats; his "issues" section consists of an anti-tax section, several draft bills, and his views on Islam and abortion.
